I like you to be marvelled in a subtle way
My work is a intuitive research to explore the potential of shape and light and the correlation between them. I explore the boundaries between the two- and three dimensionality.
It is usually a combination of photography and paper ( I love the material language of different papers). My way of working is almost graphical, architecture in a photographic form. I only use photoshop for colour corrections and cosmetic retouch, my images are not composed in the computer ( except for one or two images)
I build an image in which a new visual language develops. By enhancing or enlarging shapes that catch my eye and the use of different layers, different perspectives in one image, light, shadow, shape and reflection I start abstracting the image and create an image that looses it’s sense of familiarity. Like this the images does not show a specific time, place or scale.
For me an image is as a structure that can be seen from numerous perspectives, it consists of different elements made visible by context and individual experience. The challenge for me as an artist is to translate the shapes around us that are almost everywhere into something visually new and exciting.
My work is about changing a quite regular shape or object in a way that it play's with your mind.
I like you to be marvelled in a subtle way.
